About

Developing realistic-looking miniature models that stand up to extreme macro photography is challenging.  Tom uses a variety of painting techniques in achieving effects that mirror the weathering and aging that occurs naturally and applies them to plastic and brass scale models of buildings, automobiles, and railroad equipment.

Tom’s techniques are continually developed and refined in his approach to weathering.   His other skills – photography and diorama construction – create a combination of disciplines that often yield striking photographic examples of real life in miniature.

In November of 2008, he released his first book titled simply, “Weathering”.  The book has sold in 10 countries and continues to be an inspiration years after its release.
